What is home hardening?
Home hardening means making a house harder to ignite during a wildfire. Most homes catch from wind-blown embers, not the flame front, so hardening focuses on the places embers land: the ground right around the house, decks, fences, siding and roofs.
Is home hardening the same as defensible space?
They work together. Defensible space reduces the fuel around the home; hardening protects the home itself. We plan both at the same walk-through so one crew handles the whole job.
